Well, the whole family has been home for almost two full days now, and things are starting to settle down a bit. I say “a bit” because I know that things will never be the same, but they can return to a sense of, dare I say, normalcy.

We are starting to try to learn how to respond to Aivy’s sleeping and eating schedule while living as normal adults…with mixed success. I finally slept more than 5 hours at a stretch in as many days and Linh has, well, Linh has done the best that she can at sleeping. She may have a greater total number of daily sleeping hours than me, but I have yet to see her sleep for more than 3 hours at a time. It’s tough on the body, I tell you.

So I’ve tried to make things as comfortable as humanly possible by doing all the housework including meal preparation, cleaning, and home repair. It’s stuff that I do anyway, so it’s not like I’m really busting my hump now that Aivy is here, but the real difference is, the housework is incessant— there is seemingly no end to the cycle of feeding, cleaning, and paying attention to the little monkey.

Notice what is to the left of Linh’s feet…

That’s right, the little monkey also serves as a foot warmer.
