The jury is still out on this pair of young Austinites. Born the son and daughter of an interracial relationship, would these two carry the best of their mother and father's genes, or will they represent the worst of both? We'll have to wait and see.

Aivy and Calvin seem to be surrounded by a peer group of intercultural mutts. Benjamin here is the son of Marc who is half Korean and half Indian and Mariana who is Ukrainian. I think this genetic combination would make him someone who may one day design the world's smartest chess-playing computer.

One thing's for certain, though. Benjamin is one cute kid.

And Emily is the daughter of Lisa who is half Panamanian and half Caucasian while David is Hispanic. Will Emily grow up to rule all of Central and North America as one nation? You be the judge.

Here are Calvin and Aivy playing with their young friend Emily. Since Emily is a few months Calvin's junior, she seems to be stealing a bit of the limelight from Calvin. None too impressed, Calvin is here trying to firmly establish himself as the alpha baby.

Aivy is really in a whole other category of toddler now. At times running around with five-year-olds at daycare and other times she befriends infants and toddlers, Aivy is in her own league.

Sometimes she seems a bit more like a pre-teenager than a pre-preschooler. Here she is with her A Pho and A Cung putting on her new sandals. OMG, they were like, soooo cute!!!

She kept referring to her spring roll wrappers as "tortillas."

The weekend culminated with a huge feast prepared by Linh's mom. The dinner table was sagging with wonderful food. It was a wonderful way to end a great Fourth of July weekend in San Antonio.
