So I was changing out a lightbulb in the living room, left the room to get a fresh bulb, and came back to witness my son climbing up the ladder. I really don't like this kind of foreshadowing...

Superchunk and Mommy got to see a bird's nest in a knothole in an ash tree in our front yard.

Since Linh and I feel that ash trees are otherwise useless, we're glad that the birds found it comfy.

Spike is learning to break out of jail already.

Here he is on his actual first birthday, April 16th, 2009.

Spike looks great in hats.

Superchunk and her Uncle Ryan had fun hanging out and watching TV.

Eventually, TV time gave way to naptime.

Uncle Ryan and Aunt Kristi are moving to North Carolina so Superchunk signed a photo for Ryan to remember her by.

Spike is eating (mostly) with a fork now.

Here's our girl.

We decided to get her a harmonica to play whenever she gets sent to time-out. Linh's the superintendent and I'm the prison guard.
We swear he did this by himself.
In case you can't tell, she's singing "Baby Bumblebee."
That's they way Spike walks nowadays. He's pretty new at it.
But he does like wearing hats just like his sister did.
