The Christmastime Adventure

This photo really captures the spirit of Aivy's first Christmas, but I just cannot think of an appropriate caption for it.

Aivy had a great time in Corpus with her grandparents. The weather was crisp and sunny.

And grandma made sure we all had plenty of good food.

Meanwhile, the three brothers got to work on repairing and performing some routine maintenance work on our parents' house.

Aivy wore her new dress given to her by her grandparents at Thanksgiving. You can't see them in this picture, but Aivy is wearing little white tights under her skirt. Putting her in those tights felt a bit like stuffing sausage.

So this is how she started her day on Christmas morning-- Aivy emerged from her nest bright and early...

And patiently waited for everyone else to wake.

Notice that "coach-is-talking-to-me" posture of hers. Aivy's body language cracks me up sometimes.

Then, she attacked the presents!

Successful wrapping paper destruction brought smiles. Big smiles. Big, lion-like, two-tooth smiles.

Aivy really had fun with her auntie Adrienne. This was her first trip down to Corpus.

Rick kept Aivy reasonably entertained so that she wouldn't cause too much wanton destruction.

Aivy's Uncle Ryan and Aunt-to-be Kristi made it down to Corpus, too. They were gracious enough to leave their pet Weimaraner Remi at home, but I think that Aivy could have handled her.

And we all opened our gifts at the same time. With all the paper ripping and colorful packaging, Aivy thought she was in heaven.

And Aivy's favorite present was probably her lawnmower thing that looks and sounds like a cow. Listen for her weird chirping at the beginning of the clip.

Aivy and her cousin Cambell (okay, second-cousin) jammed on the piano on Christmas Eve at the Whitworth Family Christmas Extravaganza. They played a little jazz number and talked about Santa.

Listen carefully as Aivy punctuates the news about her new little brother.
As you can see, Aivy had quite an adventure at Christmas. At one point I think she was trying to imitate Tiny Tim at the end of "A Christmas Carol" when she bellowed, "Merry Christmas, everyone!" Or at least she did in my imagination.
