Four Days, Four Tons of Paving Materials

So I know this is supposed to be a blog about kids, but since this is all we've been working on and planning for the past week, it makes sense to talk about the patio.

My handyman work won the Aivy bellow of approval.

Calvin was a big help with the wheelbarrow.

And Aivy helped to secure the the dirt pile.

This picture is the "before" shot to establish the problem area. No grass has grown in this area for the five years we've had the house. There was once a swing set in this area, but it rusted out and is no mas. It was my first demo project on the house.

So four years later I ordered two tons of native limestone pavers and two tons of decomposed granite substrate to build out this patio thing.

This shows stage one of the construction project.

This was the end of stage two.

And then the end of stage three. I still haven't poured the substrate between the pavers and swept/tamped it all into place, so it ain't finished yet.

Aivy thought that the whole project deserved a strong Hook 'Em.

And Calvin thought that the patio and fire pit was simply a fantastic play area...for reasons that will be obvious once you watch the video.

Good times.
