It was a quiet week on Lake Walter E. Long, in our hometown. Another blessedly cool weekend and for once we found ourselves without any real commitments for two solid days before Veteran's Day when I could take care of errands while the rest of the world goes to work.

We had a great time going out with our other married with children friends on Friday night. We went to Central Market and heard a band, had adult conversations about things like politics instead of poop, and generally had a wonderful evening. The kids loved dancing around to the music and I even knew the lead singer from undergrad. The whole evening had a very Austin-esque vibe to it. It was nice.
The next day we went out to the lake and read magazines while Aivy played around on the picnic blanket. It was so cool and peaceful outside that Mommy fell asleep. So Daddy and Aivy went exploring. Again, a very nice way to spend the day.

Today we went to the hospital to visit our friends Matthew and Elizabeth who just gave birth to their baby Charlotte last weekend. Okay, Elizabeth gave birth and Matthew was there, but I'm just trying to give props to the pop. Matthew and Elizabeth looked haggard but very happy.
Then we went to our next-door-neighbor's sixteenth birthday party at their Aikido center where we ate some fantastic barbeque from Sam's over on East 12th Street. Good food + good friends = good times!
Aivy is now able to stand on her own...more or less.
Aivy takes a stand.
