We're fairly confident that Aivy is going through some substantial mental and physical changes right now as evidenced by her unusual behavior and bowel movements, but we're not really complaining. Oh no-- she's actually more animated and engaged with her surroundings than ever. Just look at how much older she appears in this photo...it's a little frightening for her dad.

She is having separation anxiety (which we didn't expect until after the 7th month), is vocalizing loudly and frequently (which I expected around month 8), and has started to imitate some gestures and facial expressions that we use.

We think that her body may be preparing herself for teething, but I cannot tell whether or not her gums are swollen, so there's no telling for sure.

This was our first week at day care and it was much easier on Aivy than it was on her parents, I tell you. We take Aivy to a lady who runs a day care out of her house that is about two blocks away from ours. She watches anywhere from 2-5 kids at a time and has her adult daughter help her when she has several kids but we feel very confident that she will be a good person to watch Aivy during the day.

But as nice and professional as Martha is, it sure didn't make dropping her off on any easier. All I'm saying is that I'm glad I had my sunglasses otherwise I would have had to explain some very red and watery eyes on Wednesday morning. Linh was a wreck, too. But we're feeling better about it every day.

So Aivy says, "What's the big friggin' deal, yo? It's just daycare, Mom and Dad. Geez, get over it already!"
