Reaching the Five Month Mark

So now Aivy is able to grasp things in her hands, hold her bottle when she feeds, sleep through the night, eat semi-solid food, and babble constantly. Pretty cool, right? Well we heard that month number six is even better--we'll find out soon enough!

Aivy is going to be spending more time with her aunt Yenmi this summer. Yenmi got an internship with our friend Quan's non-profit healthcare consortium called TORCH and will be living with us for awhile. It will be nice to have her around in the final month before Linh has to go back to school to do some teacher training in August.

We're trying to make the transition to the daycare lifestyle, but it's not going to be easy to part with Aivy! So we're trying to get her more accustomed to drinking from bottles during the day when we won't be with her. That's going to be really hard on both of us, but I've racked up alot of sick leave and vacation to take care of Aivy just in case the transition doesn't go smoothly. Linh, I'm afraid is out of luck. Seven months of maternity leave, vacation, and sick leave goes by fast!

Here in Austin we've had more than our fair share of rain this spring and summer, and our vegetable garden is exploding. Here is a typical week's harvest. Nice, huh? Wait 'til you see the pumpkins we're trying to grow!

Yenmi commandeered the camera.

She's crushing our heads.

So the new Mommy and Daddy are both blissfully happy in the salad days of their marriage.

Aivy and Mommy are sleeping peacefully...

...and all is well in the world.
